Steve Karlin retired in June 2022 after a 34-year career in public education where he served as a teacher, coach, administrator, deputy superintendent, and superintendent. Steve worked his entire career in Garden City, a highly diverse school system which was also the ninth largest school district in Kansas. Steve has a passion for children and the need to have a quality teacher in every public school classroom. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Education at Newman University and works part-time as a Field Leadership Consultant for the Kansas Association of School Boards. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming and Master of Science and Doctor of Education degrees from Kansas State University. Steve’s wife Mary is a lifelong educator and they enjoy two children, a son Zachary who graduated from college in December 2022 and a daughter Reagan who is currently a junior in college. In his free time, Steve enjoys the mountains, fishing, golf, and reading.
